Oklahoma Route 66 Association

Since 1989, the Oklahoma Route 66 Association has worked to protect and promote the state's stretch of the Mother Road. Oklahoma is home to more than 400 drivable miles of Route 66, the longest continuous run of any state along the historic highway, reaching from Quapaw near the Kansas line down through Tulsa and Oklahoma City to Texola on the Texas border. The association exists to keep that corridor accessible, well documented, and worth the detour.

Resources for Travelers and the Community

The organization publishes an annual Trip Guide packed with practical routing information, along with a business member directory that points visitors toward Route 66 shops, diners, and lodging along the way. Its calendar of events gathers festivals and gatherings from across the state into one place, while the Route 66 Explorer's Club introduces the highway's history to a younger generation.

Preservation work runs alongside these traveler tools. The association maintains an archive of interviews conducted by longtime Route 66 historian Marian Clark and keeps documentation tied to National Register listings, helping ensure the road's landmarks are recognized and remembered. A specialty Route 66 license plate program gives Oklahomans another everyday way to support the cause.

Membership dues fund this work, and members gain access to exclusive content along with volunteer opportunities to get involved directly. To learn more, reach the Oklahoma Route 66 Association at P.O. Box 35541, Tulsa, OK 74153, by phone at 405-258-0008, or by email at info@oklahomaroute66.com.
